Are you coming to Venice? If it is a “red” day you will have to pay 5 euros at the entrance

Plato wrote: beauty is mixing the finite and the infinite in the right proportions. So tomorrow anyone coming on a trip to Venice will be “counted” and will have to pay the 5 euro contribution. A contribution introduced precisely to dissuade hit-and-run tourists – who can choose other dates with less tourist influx without a ticket – from joining the other presences already in the city, ending up suffocating everything and everyone.

The novelty comes with a notable facilitation: the ‘ticket’ can now be paid in tobacconists.

In fact, in all PuntoLis tobacconists throughout Italy it is possible to book and pay the entry fee in advance. This was announced by the Italian Tobacconists and Sailing Federation spa, a company of the Avm Group appointed by the Municipality of Venice for communication and sales activities of the access fee.

Thanks to the agreement between Vela and Servizi in Rete 2001 – a company of the Tobacconists Federation – in all over 30,000 Italian PuntoLis tobacconists, tourists who intend to book a visit to the city on the lagoon on the 29 days of the year marked with a red sticker will be able to purchase comfortably and the ticket in advance, with a view to simplifying services to citizens.

The access fee, at a cost of 5 euros per day, Vela spa reminds us, will be requested from visitors who do not fall within the cases of exclusion and exemption identified by the Municipality of Venice, identified only by way of example as daily visitors who do not stay in structures of the municipal territory or who are not residents in Veneto. And those excluded and exempted are not few, falling into numerous categories already foreseen by the Municipality of Venice.

A historic date, 25 April 2024, also because many other super-visited sites in the world, also suffocated by the now prevailing mass tourist arrivals, are on the lookout to see what will happen, with Venice itself having the courage to introduce first a method contested by many but invoked by just as many.

Daily visitors who arrive from 8.30 am to 4 pm tomorrow will therefore pay 5 euros tomorrow, as well as in twenty-nine days in total, until the end of July, defined by the ‘red stamp’ for tourist arrivals. Only the “daily travellers”, we were saying, those who arrive in the morning and leave in the evening, because tourists who stay in regular hotels, guest houses and B&Bs are exempt, as they will pay the tourist tax.

The access points are located in strategic points of the city and the digital, multi-channel and multilingual platform http: //cda.ve.it, has been operational for days. It allows you to acquire all the information, book entry and, for the categories provided, pay the 5 euros per person.
